Blue Heelers or Australian Cattle Dogs are excellant working dogs or family pets. They will be inside or outside dogs. Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dogs) have a medium coat and during the winter and spring will require some brushing to control the shedding. If they remain outside dogs, they will comb themselves.
We have had a Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) that has helped us pen stock for 16 years, our primary breeding male "Killer" is out of some of the original stock. "Killer" has made a name for himself out in New Mexico at some of the sales. He can load any stock with no help. He is retired now and has earned his easy life. He produces some nice pups that have his ability to listen and think.
I have a new male that is showing a lot of potential to work. His name is "Bauer".
Blue Heelers (Australian Cattle Dogs) are not primarly used for cattle working. They are becoming a very popular breed for apartment living and for house pets and family members. Blue Heelers are extremely smart and that is what makes them so popular.
